About This Site

This page shows the availability and performance of the different public IoT platforms that we operate. We monitor and measure the following items:

- REST API availability and performance
- MQTT API availability and performance

The platform is considered available as long as devices and users can still save and retrieve data via the interfaces mentioned above.

We also announce our service maintenance and platform wide issues on this page. If you want to be informed about such items please register for updates using the button above.

End of support for CEL (Esper):
Software AG ended support for using CEL (Esper) in Cumulocity IoT on 31 Dec 2020 following its deprecation in 2018. Cumulocity IoT now uses Apama to provide streaming analytics. Existing customers using CEL must migrate to Apama. For details on migration, refer to Migrating from CEL (Esper) to Apama [1] in the Streaming Analytics guide.

As part of our continuous effort to improve our service to our Customers, we will be enabling support for MQTTS weak ciphers on cumulocity.com environment on 21.October.2021, between 11:00 CEST and 14:00 CEST.

As part of this activity, weak MQTTS ciphers will be enabled. Hence after the upgrade completes, the devices which required MQTTS weak ciphers will start working.

This will be a background activity that will have no or little impact on your use of cumulocity.com.

Please make sure that all your relevant users of the Cumulocity IoT Platform are subscribed to our update services and are aware of the upgrade.

We will provide you with an additional reminder one hour before the upgrade. We will inform you as we progress through the upgrade and in case there are any deviations from the communicated plan.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your continued co-operations.

Resolved - SWe're back to normal performance of the platform.
Oct 20, 16:06 CEST
Identified - We are currently seeing very high load on our Cumulocity IoT Platform at cumulocity.com

The high load is on the database which will impact everyone using the platform - you can see 502 errors when logging in, or your microservices not responding in time.

We have located the source of the high load and applied request limits.

Further actions might still be needed.

We are continuously monitoring the Platform and will keep you updated with further information.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Scheduled - As part of our continuous effort to improve our service, we will be enabling support for MQTTS weak ciphers and disabling TLS 1.0 support on apj.cumulocity.com environment on 20.October.2021, between 11:00 CEST and 14:00 CEST.

The weak cipher support needed devices will start connecting after this upgrade completion.

This will be a background activity that will have no or little impact on your use of apj.cumulocity.com.

Resolved - The apj.cumulocity.com environment now has a rollback in place regarding removal of support for weak ciphers.
The same fix will be applied to *.cumulocity.com by the end of the week.
Oct 20, 13:23 CEST
Update - We are continuing to work on a fix for this issue.
Oct 4, 09:11 CEST
Identified - With the 10.10 release, the cipher suite was updated and weak cyphers were excluded to make the platform more secure.
This was announced latest in the 10.9 release notes, but because a lot of active devices are still using old ciphers, we are looking for a possible solution supporting older ciphers.

There are two separated paths here based on protocol:

* HTTP - it is already possible to configure ciphers per instance, for now on all environments (emea, eu-latest, apj and us) we decided to use configuration from version 10.9, exception is our cloud instance where TLSv1 was disabled. The main point here is that we are quite flexible in this field and we can change those configuration with low effort.

* MQTT - with version 10.10 platform was moved to containerised core environment, where mqtts traffic is terminated, which makes the ciphers configuration a little bit more complex. We are investigating possible solutions here.

Also note that MQTT devices with old version of the paho library will not be able to connect using TLS v1.3
